Show notes.

To See A Darkness opens Friday night. I put the finishing touches on everything tonight, and start hanging tomorrow.

I have so much to tell you, and no energy left to blog creatively. So here are some notes.

---

Thanks to the Asheville Citizen-Times for the coverage. I wish they'd included the other three artists, so I'll link to them again once more:

Cynthia Lee
Ginger Huebner
Jane Reeves

---

Stats:

17 total images

Two square images framed to 32x32(!)
Nine Horizontals @ 16x20
Six Vertical @ 16x20

7 color
10 monochrome

14 captured with film
3 captured with digital

For the gearheads, cameras used include Nikon D200, F100, FM2n; Pentax K1000, ZX-50, and WR-90; Ricoh XR-1; Pentacon 6; and a Voigtlander Perkeo I (damn right!)

---

I'm always asked at the opening who does my framing, editing, etc. I always find the question odd: Do you think I'd look this haggard if I didn't do it all myself?

The only things I don't do are the development of color film, medium format scanning, and printing, because these processes are standardized, and I don't have or want the equipment to do them.

So, to answer the question: All of my film and developing is done at Iris Photographics. All of the printing for this show was done by Henco Reprographics. All of my caffeine was purchased at the CitiStop on Haywood Road.

---

This is my first time using wooden frames for a major exhibit. I'm also matting the work differently. I'm sure there's some French word for it, but I'm leaving space between the edge of the photo and the edge of the mat window, with a title and signature visible below the print.

Both of these are things I've scoffed at in the past as unnecessary conceits. That's how different this work is.

---

My wife is amazing. If you make it out Friday night and like the work, thank her for remaining patient as I took over pretty much the entire house for pretty much the entire month of June, not to mention putting up with my pretty much insufferable self.

---

SAD posts have been suspended to keep the posts about the exhibit current on the blog. And because I'm exhausted. I'll pick them back up when the smoke clears . . .

---

. . . which may be awhile, because there's another big, mysterious announcement to be made, and it's going to stir up some trouble with all my anonymous friends on the interwebs. Stay tuned.
